Paralegal

Lorraine joined the firm in June 2023 and assists with civil litigation, domestic relations, probate administration, estate planning, DHR defense, and heirs’ property. Lorraine has worked in the legal field for more than 25 years and began her career in Civil Service with the Jefferson County Revenue Department. She later worked as a Paralegal for the City of Birmingham Law Department, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, as well as other notable plaintiffs’ and defense law firms. She is a team player who believes in getting the job done. Lorraine attended Samford University for two years, where she pursued a degree in Paralegal Studies.

Prior to joining Gregory Varner & Associates, she assisted previous employers with trial preparation, civil litigation, personal injury, municipal government, criminal prosecution, and civil rights cases. She has also served as a substitute teacher for the Alabaster and Pelham School Systems.

Lorraine works alongside her husband Michael in ministry, to whom she has been married for 32 years. Together, they work as volunteer outreach ministers in their local church, ministering throughout the city, preparing meals, and feeding those that are less fortunate in the community. Lorraine also serves as General Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Tanzania District Council of her church organization. She and her husband are proud parents to three daughters and four wonderful grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, going to the beach, singing, listening to gospel music, cooking, and entertaining family and friends.
